Many people intuitively feel that the colours that we surround ourselves with have an impact on us in many ways. Colour affects our mood, feeling and our activities significantly.
Our human eye can recognise seven primary colours:
red, yellow, orange, green, blue, indigo and violet. Yet, an infinite number of colours in terms of tones, nuances and shades can be attained by mixing primary colours. (Image on left is from Ruth Kuebler)
How important colours are for us we show also with the manifold expressions in our language. For instance, if we speak ill or enthusiastically of something we describe it in the darkest or brightest colours: or some account is coloured because it does not correspond entirely with reality. As soon we admit our conviction, we show our true colour; and if we want to stress a point and present it more vividly we simply give it more colour.
But also in personal life colour is of importance, even in the choice of wall colours or our clothing, according to personal taste.
Nature mediates to us the right experiencing of colours. All the colours that are combined in the rainbow are found individually again in manifold ways in the Nature around us, be it the green of the meadows, forests and oceans, the blue of the sky, the golden yellow of the sun or the red of sunset and dawn, the violet of twilight and the colourful sparkling of the stars, not to speak of the many colours of animals, flowers, fruits and stones. Already the famous German poet Johann Wolfgang v Goethe recognised the great value of the colours and their powers, as is clearly evident from his theory of colours that he first published in 1810.
Colours do radiate, and have definite wave-lengths. They bring us benefits of many kinds if we use them rightly.
The way we see colours is the result of certain wavelengths of light reaching our retina and each colour corresponds to a particular wavelength or range thereof. What we observe is that the colour of an object can change depending on the ambient light, or even its degree of smoothness, or the colour of something else in the vicinity, such that we may sometimes wonder if the colour that we perceive is real or our senses are perhaps mistaken.
All primary colours are contained in what we perceive as light, or, better said, the light contains all the colours within it, and each person, place or object manifests colour only according to how it reflects the light that falls upon it.
How, then, is colour so powerful?
Each colour of the spectrum has its characteristic qualities.
-Red, which has the longest wave-length, has a stimulating, rousing effect, it awakens enthusiasm, courage, resolution, energy, aggressiveness and adventurousness. Fire and the pulsating blood are red.
-Yellow radiates warmth, gives confidence, optimism, cheerfulness and freedom from care. "Yellow-toned" people have sunny natures.
-Green. Nature offers us green in rich abundance. With "Mother Green" we recover from the bustle of everyday life. How calming and strengthening it is when our eyes rest on green meadows, for "colour-vision" also influences the mind.
Green symbolises hope, growth, ripening, the not yet complete that still gives hope of fulfilment!
-Blue is a cool colour and has a calming effect on a human being. Good results are achieved when abnormally agitated people are put in blue rooms.
The cold ice-blue of winter is more indicative of what is contracting, hardening, inward-turning, while the light blue of the sky mediates faithfulness and constancy.
-Violet is connected with man's relationship to God. Trustful faith in God, veneration of God and respect for His Laws are a part of it. Violet is the colour of ceremony, of dignity, and finally the expression of highest wisdom and recognition.
-Orange gives warmth, cheers, and fills one with the joy of life.
Of course there is also a close relationship between colour and temperament.
Colours play an important part in healing therapies.
Here diseased parts of the body are irradiated with coloured light. In this connection red has a stimulating effect; it expands the vessels, stimulates the circulation and increases the red blood corpuscles. Yellow warms, animates and strengthens. Green is related to the organs of digestion, including the liver and gall-bladder. "To turn yellow with jealousy and green with envy" indicates diseases of the greenish gall-bladder and the liver (yellow skin colour). Blue allays pain, calms overwrought nerves, helps to contract and tightens the connective tissue. It is also said to have a favourable effect on the lymphatic system.
A completely different method from colour-radiation in cases of physical diseases is the direct action of colour on the blood-radiation. Here coloured stones, which must always be individually composed, are brought into contact for a longer period with the blood-circulation at specific points of the body. The blood-radiation is so altered through the coloured stones that it is able to absorb radiations from the Universe, which gradually provide spirit and body with new up building and refreshing powers.
Even ancient Egyptians in their healing art used the colours of precious stones, with which they treated diseased parts until the balance was restored in the disturbed aura of the person. For this the healers had to be clairvoyant and able to see delicate radiations, or at least to have a very refined intuitive faculty.
And still today there are persons so gifted. They are able at once to recognise points of disease, or rather a wrong vibration in the finer astral covering of man.
-In India the healing power of precious stones has been used again in more recent times. In the Ayurvedic medicine in India, and in traditional Chinese medicine each organ in the body is associated with a colour.
As late as the 19th century, European smallpox victims and their sickrooms were draped with red cloth to draw the disease away from the body. And for many years, doctors have used light in the blue spectrum to treat babies with jaundice. Today, colour therapy is a recognised form of complementary medicine and used in a variety of settings.
During Therapeutic Magnetism Treatments we often use the vibration of a certain colour.
Also in self-help if you develop more sensitivity you can get a sense which colour frequencies would be beneficial for an organ for example. Sometimes to simply focus on the weakened part of your body and ask, what colour would it need right now to get better, will give you an intuition for the right colour vibration. For example one of my clients who had the tendency to depressive thinking found it very helpful to lay her right hand on her solar plexus and visualise yellow vibration to flow into that area for 5 minutes daily. It lifted her mood significantly while conducting that self-treatment and she reports that she is now in general and on an ongoing basis in a more positive mood throughout the day. To take good care of our own body it is beneficial to sense towards our body in order to decipher which kind of colour vibrations the body needs.
That the different chakras resonate in different colours is also widely known. In our Biomagnetic Healing Seminars we teach colour treatment of the chakras in self-help. The self help exercise is called the coloured light bath. Here we absorb the colour's frequency and guide it into the responsible chakra. Colour Red for the Root chakra, Colour Orange for the Navel chakra, Colour Yellow for the Solar Plexus chakra, Colour Green or Pink for the Heart chakra, Colour Light Blue for the Throat chakra, Colour Indigo for the Third Eye chakra, Colour Violet or White for the Crown chakra. Where a large amount of the respective colour frequency is required, the person begins to experience a deep warmth.
But beyond healing you can use the understanding about colour in your everyday life with the choice of colour in clothing or jewellery.
Yellows and reds can increase a persons energy when feeling exhausted and drained, while blues and greens can soothe excessive energy, irritability and hyperactivity. But all other colours like described above can be used in clothing, jewellery and home decoration also in their different tones and mixes.
Sadly today, being "fashionable" often means we find ourselves wearing the same colours, regardless of our mood and personality.
Each one of us can begin to be more observant of how we feel when wearing a particular colour, how we feel emotionally, how effectively we function that day, and how our interactions with others turn out or how others react to us. In time, we will each begin to recognise which colours work for and against us. What may help one person may hinder another based on his or her temperament or personality.
A child with a fiery temperament will benefit from cool colours in the blue and green spectrum. My son's study room is painted mainly in blue for example and it fits well to him as an athletic, physically strong and active personality. For children who are emotionally or physically weak or extremely shy or fearful children they may benefit from warmer colours in the yellow-orange-red spectrum.
As we become more aware of how our colours affect even the course of each day we will become more judicious in our choice of clothing and begin to express our personal choice in a way that subtly but decisively "colours" and determines our experiences of the day. While this might seem insignificant, the effects can be life-changing. For example, by paying attention to the colours one chooses at certain times, one can effectively counteract tendencies toward depression, anxiety, anger or even fear and discouragement.
Colour is indeed powerful....and integrating colour more consciously in our lives can improve our quality of life physically, emotionally and spiritually. With our own colourful radiation we can make manifold connections with the colour-rays of the Cosmos, and we are thus in a position to weave a many-coloured carpet of fate, with the most beautiful and purest of colours, if we at the same time observe and follow the self-acting Laws of Creation with care.
Another interesting point when we think on colour is the relation between colour and tone, and we must know that beyond earthly realms colour and tone are one. There colours sound and tones have colours, and the higher we go into Luminous Spheres, the more sharply do tone and colour stand out.
That might sound weird to many of us as for us earth dwellers colour and tone appear to be separate, because only this way we are able to perceive them through our physical senses. But the memory of the unity of colour and tone in the extra-terrestrial regions still exists in the human language in words like "colour-tone" or when we give a lighter or darker "tone" to a picture.
There are however sensitive persons who here on earth are able to experience colour and tone as a whole. For example, when the note C sounds on an instrument they see a ruby-red colour, for according to the order of Creation the seven colours of the rainbow correspond to seven keynotes, and interestingly enough also to the colours of the chakra system. Each colour belongs to a definite tone. These people who can perceive the colour and tone as one experience musical pieces as a glorious play of colours, rather like illuminated dancing water fountains.
Therefore if we consider that beyond the gross material world colour and tone cannot be separated from each other, we perceive the whole of Creation as one mighty symphony of colours, in fullest harmony.
All colour issue from the Divine Light or what we can call the Divine Primordial Power, and with the Creation words of "Let there be Light" it started to permeate Creation as glorious, sounding colour-radiations, right down to the World of Matter, where they manifest in Nature and give testimony of this wonderful happening.
We can with our own colour radiation make manifold connections with the colour-rays of the Cosmos and the more consciously we integrate colour into our lives the more we can improve the quality of our life physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Please find more information about Human Radiation here.
I also will add here an article I wrote several years ago about Bach Flower Remedies.
Everything in the Universe radiates.
Think on the colours of a rainbow.
Everything radiates. Every star, every single object, all resembles a finely-cut prism passing on every ray it receives in numberless radiant hues.
Also food radiates
Healthy food is good for our body. It helps us to “vibrant” health.
Modern photography techniques, such as the colour plate method, are making it possible to see the layers of energy (aura) around objects or people.
Flowers radiate too. Bach Flowers are so called Higher Plants and I explain in a moment more.
Also we radiate. Not only our body which is surrounded by the astral body (aura) but also our soul and spirit have an impact on our radiation, through its VOLITION.
The origin of a human is not in the material world but in the spiritual world. We come here on this earth to develop and learn, to acquire wisdom and to extinguish in us all what is wrong so that we can fulfil the purpose of our existence which lies in the development of our spirit towards perfection. In memory of our place of origin, we carry in us the longing to develop virtues, so higher ideal human qualities. The virtues of our Higher Nature.
Chastity, wisdom, compassion, love, peace, joyfulness, purposefulness, constancy, gentleness, the wish to serve, hope, humility, sense of beauty, loyalty, productivity, truthfulness, grace, modesty, diligence, creativity, the wish to protect, purity, strength, courage, daring, adroitness, genuine and pure womanly or gentlemanly nature and so on.
Our earth life is to be compared to a short time in our developmental history, like a school day in comparison to the whole life.
Our spirit is eternal.
To develop our deep inner spiritual qualities we have to listen to our spirit, which will talk to us through our deep intuitive perception, for example through our conscience.
If we transform these impulses into our daily lives through our personality, we feel happy. Our mental, emotional and physical health is dependent on the harmony between our personality and our soul (spirit). As long as there is harmony between our soul and personality, we experience joy and peace, happiness and health.
But we often miss doing this.
If our human potential is unrealized, sooner or later, unhappiness will develop. The virtues that we failed to realize now show themselves in their shadow side as vices such as pride, cruelty, hatred, self-love, ignorance, greed, laziness, lack of knowledge, weakness etc.
Blockages occur if the personality is obstructed from the connection to his inner voice, and instead of that follow earthly, egoistic desires or the personality gets distracted and disturbed through the influence and ideas of others. If this happens and a person does not live in accordance with the guidance of his soul a CONFLICT arises.
As such there are two main mistakes: First the separation of soul (spirit) with the personality and second cruelty and wrong behaviour towards others.
If we disregard the existence of our soul (spirit) and we do not follow its guidance we literally cut our umbilical cord to the source of life and turn away from the cosmic connection or like Dr. Bach said, “away from love”.
If we would have enough love to all beings and things, we cannot unjustly hurt anybody, as such love would hinder us to think and do anything what could harm other beings without cause.
If the personality could and would act in complete harmony with its Soul, then humans would live in perfect harmony. The universal energy of creation would flow freely and express itself in the life of the personality. If we disregard our inner voice, vices develop instead of virtues. Behind every vice lies a good virtue, but if the person goes away from his roots which connect him to the source of life, he goes away from the all embracing love, the pure power radiating through all creation, and through the distance to it, what a person does becomes estranged and darkened.
So it is about two things:
What should we do, if we discover mental conflicts or mistakes in us?
“Don’t fight it, transform it. “
A young woman’s Higher Self would like to express its potential creativity and self-assurance in her personality, and sends appropriate impulses. The young woman repeatedly has the idea that she would like to open a flower shop. In the ideal case she will use the energy that comes to her from her Higher Self to ponder this. Finally she decides in favour of the idea and after having all the positive and negative experiences that are part of opening a business, she becomes a contented florist.
What has happened? The potential of the Higher Self has been expressed successfully in the personality of this woman, and her personality has been enriched.
However, the impulses of the Higher Self won’t always be accepted and fulfilled so unreservedly by an individual. The following might also occur: The young woman receives the impulse from her Higher Self and feels good about it. At the same time, though, she experiences a contrary feeling. A picture of her father flashes up in her memory; many years ago he had gone into bankruptcy with a flower business. She thinks,” I won’t be able to do this. Nothing will come of this!” Then she gets a serious case of the flu and finally rejects the idea. Later she tells a girlfriend that she does not feel competent enough to open a flower shop:” Others may be able to do such a thing, but not me. Anyway, flower shops are not what they used to be.”
The result is that the energy impulse of her Higher Self is now blocked. The potential cannot be actualized.
What error has the personality made in this case?
The young woman does not pay attention to her Inner Guidance, believing that the experience of her father is more relevant. She does not understand that she would not receive the steady impulse from her Higher Self to open a flower shop if it was not part of her Life Plan. The block that she unknowingly is setting up against her Inner Guidance causes the opposite to happen. What started out as creative energy turns into discouragement and the feeling of inability. Not only does this not enrich the personality; it makes it twice the poorer.
First, a part of the woman’s potential and Life Plan remain unfulfilled and valuable creative energy is blocked. Second, the ensuing inner conflict regularly uses up additional psychic energy- energy that does not come from the inexhaustible source of the Soul, but rather draws on the resources of the personality, which then deprives other areas of energy they need for further development.
If this prospective florist takes the Bach Larch Flower Essence, however-“For those who feel inferior to others”- what would be the effect? Having the same vibration as the energy potential of the Higher Self that wishes to express itself, it is able to make direct contact with this energy potential. It washes out the blockage, which is at a lower disharmonious frequency, flooding it with its own higher, harmonious frequency.
The potential of the Higher Self is thus supported, and in turn the correct message gets through to the young woman and completely dissolves the rest of the blockage.
In this example the young woman becomes aware of her lack of self-esteem and starts to see things differently. She might tell herself, “What happened to my father does not need to happen to me. Why should not I be capable of opening a store? I will try it and see what happens. If it does not work, at least I will have learned a great deal from it.”
Of course, the whole process will never be as straightforward as has been depicted here, and obviously there will be setbacks and obstacles to overcome, but ultimately once the blockage has been resolved, the energy from the Higher Self can be used fully by the personality. At the same time the individual again has creative energy at her disposal that was previously spent on the daily maintenance of the negative avoidance reaction. The personality has become double enriched.
Many people nowadays see only the material things and doubt the existence of their soul. This is the greatest disease of our time. Our soul does speak to us through our deep intuitive perception, our conscience.
To finish these explanations I want to point out shortly the law of Attraction, which is now talked about everywhere.
What we give out we also will receive back. What we vibrate we also attract again. It could not be otherwise. What we Sow we will Reap. We cannot harvest rice if we have sown cucumber. This law is in the universe not only applicable to the world of matter but is also a spiritual law. What we sow in our thoughts and intuitive perceptions we will also receive back, or attract back and always strengthened or more then we have given out, as vibrations will attract similar and in that what comes back to us is strengthened. Everything has to come back from where it was first started. Also this is a law in the universe, the law of circulation.
This is the reason why it is important that we realise that WE are the master of our fate and that we CAN in working on ourselves change our fate for ourselves. Every thought is energy and we will attract things, people and circumstances of similar vibration. Bad thoughts will attract bad experiences. Good thoughts will attract beneficial experiences. Our experiences are our mirror, from which we should learn and if we do not like what we experience we have the possibility to change, so that in the future only happiness can ensue from the radiations of our VOLITION.
The Bach Flower Remedies can be helper to our good volition.
(Detailed explanations about the laws in the Universe can be found in the work “In the Light of Truth” from Abd Ru Shin)
