The true mission of the Son of God
The coming of Jesus happened at a time when, in spite of the spiritual guides such as Lao-Tse, Zoroaster, Buddha, and the succession of prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah or Ezekiel....humanity was going astray. We had forgotten the magnitude of what had been given to us with love and solicitude over the course of millennia.
Birth of Jesus
There are many precepts that have distorted the knowledge of the Divine Laws handed down by Moses. The customs and habits in Palestine became degraded to the point of decadence. Help from the Divine was therefore necessary if men were to be able to pull themselves together. The rescue mission granted to humanity remains an act of Love that few human beings have recognised even to this day.
Jesus was born, thanks to the sincere prayer of intercession by human beings who sought help from God. The primary condition in order for the prayer of these human beings to be granted was for them to possess the knowledge of God. That is why Jesus was born among the Hebrew people who possessed this knowledge. Several people who became clairvoyant and clairaudient during this great event were able to see the "Star of Bethlehem" and hear the proclamations of the angels who bore witness to the extraordinary help being sent to mankind. The birth of Jesus took place in accordance with the Laws of Creation, in the purity of the love between two human beings. It was of necessity preceded by procreation, because arbitrariness cannot exist in the Laws of God. And if parthenogenesis( a form of asexual reproduction) was possible biologically with a woman, it could only result in the birth of girls!
The virginal conception of Jesus is mentioned by Luke and Matthew. the latter uses the prophecy of Isaiah (7,10-16)to support his argument, even though Isaiah foretold Imanuel and not Jesus. The announcement made to Mary by the Archangel Gabriel: "You shall call his name Jesus" (Luke 1, 26-38) is on the other hand very clear.
On this subject, Abd-ru-shin (1) gives a clear explanation in his lecture "The Immaculate Conception and the Birth of the Son of God" (Volume 2): "Every conception arising out of pure love and a heartfelt looking upwards to the Creator, in which the sensual instinct is only an adjunct and not the basis, is an immaculate conception in the physical sense. In reality this occurs so seldom that there was every justification for laying special stress upon it..." Further on, he also states: "Thus in this prophecy "the first child" is meant, and therefore a distinction has been made between virgin and mother..."
On this point, Mark recounts a scene that takes place in Nazareth where Jesus lived. The inhabitants called out thus: "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary..."(6,3).
The strict rule was to name the son with the name of his father, except when the father is unknown: this was a devious way of reminding him that Joseph was not his natural father! The treacherous allusions made by the Pharisees against his person have the same undercurrents in Matthew (11,19) and Luke (7,34): "Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners." This insult had a precise target, it was aimed at men born of an illegitimate or adulterous union.
His real mission
When Jesus began His blessed work, His words made their hearts tremble, now that the memories of the sacred night had almost disappeared. His urging to spiritual awakening ran up against superficiality and incomprehension. This went as far as a hostile rejection that would impede the spread of His teaching until the end.
The interpretations of "redemption of the sins of the world" given by the Church is a distortion compared to the words of John the Baptist in the Gospel of John: "The next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said: "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1, 29-30). The reference here is to the sin and not to sins. John specifies that anyone who follows the teaching of Christ Jesus frees himself from the sin: "I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."(John 8. 12). Further on Jesus says to them: "You are of this world, I am not of this world. I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins." (John 8, 23-24)
This warning is not given in vain! The simplistic formulation of the Christian Church, which says that out of love Jesus died on the cross in order to redeem the sins of the world, is in total contradiction to the words of Jesus.
Jesus addresses his audience and asks them to become awake in spirit, and to change their ways and habits
His message is contained in the parables addressed to the multitudes. He teaches those who come to Him, encouraging them to awaken spiritually and to change their thinking and behaviour. We cannot therefore dismiss the whole teaching as claiming a Love such as would redeem all sins through the crucifixion. Such a Love would be unjust and mean weakness!
Jesus is, on the contrary, unwavering in His word, and therefore in the word of the Father. His determination is uncompromising; in the Gospel of Matthew His words are incisive and unyielding: "Whoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword..." (10,32-35) and Matthew also recounts this fact: "Behold, your mother and your brethren stand without, desiring to speak with you." But he answered and said to him that told him "Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?" And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said: "Behold my mother and my brethren? For whoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother."(12, 47-50)
These words help to inspire each one individually to an unshakeable conviction in the spiritual value of our daily, family or work life, because His speech liberates the spirit.
To limit and restrict the activity of Jesus to miracles is very simplistic. Nevertheless human beings were shaken out of their apathy by these miracles, which led them to the Word of the Master. It should be noted that the miracles could be achieved through a process of accelerated healing only if the spiritual conviction of the sick and afflicted person was genuine. First they had come to know intimately the force of His teaching, in view of the fact that after these healings Jesus said to them "Your faith has saved you; go in peace!" These words transformed them completely.
Why a divine envoy was necessary
The coming of a divine envoy was the ultimate help because men were no longer capable of recognising the Truth. In his book, Ernest Schmitt (2) gives us the historical setting of the activities of Jesus: "The reasoning, limited intellect had so complicated the very simple commandments that the deluge of paltry regulations had buried the original, essential truths. After His baptism by John the Baptist, His mission as the Son of God becomes clear to Jesus. The power flowing through him shakes up the ancient tradition and liberates the spirits from the prohibitions and the minor rules added to the Mosaic Law. It shows His complete independence of the opinions and trends of the time by doing away with the prescribed food diet. However, by declaring it to be unimportant and now superseded, an aspect to which others attached a great deal of importance, He openly puts himself in opposition not only to the scribes, the Pharisees and Sadducees, but also the Essenes. He will be hounded and monitored throughout His ministry. The hostility maintained towards Him will be such that He will be unanimously condemned to death by the Great Santhedrin."
Moreover, He did not come to overthrow the Law! And He says it clearly: :"Think not that I come to destroy the law, or the prophets, I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say to you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say to you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5, 17-20)
What will later become the foundation of Christian morality is to be found in Leviticus (19-18) and Deuteronomy. (6-5).
Jesus, who knew the "Holy Scriptures" very well, will go over these commandments again following a question from a Pharisee rabbi: "Master, which is in the Law, the greatest commandment?" Jesus said to him: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
(Matthew 22, 34-40)
He also specifies other precepts of the Mosaic Law including those related to crime, adultery (a lustful gaze directed to a woman is already adultery), divorce, perjury... And He admonishes not to hate one's enemies but to love them "that you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven; for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love them which love you, what reward have you? Do not even the publicans do the same? "(Matthew 5, 45-46)
From the beginning of His work, starting with the Sermon on the Mount, He traces for the large crowd following Him the way that leads to the Father. "And seeing the multitudes, Jesus went up the mountain; and when He was set, His disciples came to Him, And e opened His mouth, and taught them, saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven!
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth!
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted!
Blessed are they that do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled!
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy!
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God!
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness'sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven."(Matthew 5, 1-10)
The Beatitudes eloquently express divine justice which rewards the just after their death. The Kingdom of Heaven is opened for them; this is the Beyond, which is called Paradise.
The Lord's Prayer
Jesus teaches His disciples about prayer and specifies the conduct necessary for a prayer to be genuine "And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say to you, they have their reward....
"But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do, for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not therefore like to them; for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him." Then he says to them: "After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who art in Heaven..."(Matthew 6,5-15)
In his lecture "Prayer", Abd-ru-shin sums up what it means and the depths of its contents: "The Lord's Prayer alone provides everything for the seeker if he penetrates into it deeply and grasps it aright. He would need nothing more than the Lord's Prayer! It shows him the whole gospel in concentrated form. It is the key to the Luminous Heights for him who knows how to experience it rightly. It can be both a staff and a torch for the advance and ascent of everyone! What it contains is absolutely immeasurable.
"The real purpose of the Lord's Prayer is evident in the wealth of its contents. In the Lord's Prayer Jesus gave humanity the key to the Kingdom of God! It is the very essence of His Message."(Volume 2)
The discourse on the end-time
Jesus presents himself as the heavenly bread and the living water of eternal life: "I am the bread of life. He that comes to me shall never hunger, and he that believes in me shall never thirst."(John 6, 35). His word is his message, those who listen to it and follow it free themselves from their passions and their weaknesses! But the hostility was growing. Henchmen of the rabbis spied on every action and gesture of Jesus and their animosity grew ever stronger toward Him. He knows that His end is near. Deeply saddened by this constant suspicion, He warns: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you that kill the prophets, and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together.. For I say to you, you shall not see me henceforth, till you shall say: Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord!" (Matthew 23, 37-39)
He knows that His message has not been received in the right way. In His discourse on the end-time on the Mount of Olives, He describes the disasters which will manifest during the period of the Judgement:"You shall see the abomination of desolation" (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21) And the Book of Revelation is entirely devoted to these warnings.
The last Supper
Jesus devotes His last days to teaching His disciples and says to them: "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. And from henceforth you know him, and have seen him."(John 14,6-7). He will never deny in front of His judges and will cause Him to be sentenced to crucifixion.
Max Gallo (3) cites on this subject: "The attitude of this man who does not defend himself , of this vanquished one who does not bow is unbearable." Are you the Christ, the son of the Blessed?" asks Caiaphas...."I am, said Jesus, and you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."
During His arrest, Jesus will order Peter: "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which the Father has given me."(John 18,11)
As for Frederic Lenoir (4), he gives this explanation: "The cup of Jesus that is, death on the cross, could not be interpreted as necessary for the Son to suffer in order to appease the Father, as one has been able to understand it within the framework of a theology of pain and sacrifice. Such a picture contradicts the whole teaching of Christ and his revelation of a God of love....Jesus died on the cross for having borne witness to the end to the truth which he brought. This is no doubt the reason why his word still rings out as true and seems to be alive, two thousand years after his death."
During the meal of the Passover which He took with His disciples, He seals His message with these words full of meaning: "And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said: Take this, and divide it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you; do this in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper, saying: This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you." (Luke 22, 17-20)
These words will nevertheless remain misunderstood by many, although forever engraved in the heart of every true Christian. The true meaning of the words said by Jesus on the eve of His grievous walk to Golgotha:"This is my body, this is my blood' is given by Abd-ru-shin: 'Jesus was the Word of God become flesh! Thus he who absorbed His Word aright also received Jesus himself.
"And if a man lets this Word of God that is offered to him come to life within himself so that it becomes an integral part of himself, of his thoughts and his actions, he thereby lets the spirit of Christ come to life within himself, for the Son of God was the incarnate living Word of God!" (Volume 2)
Jesus also prepared the disciples to pass on His word to all nations by promising to send them the power of the Holy Spirit. They will receive it on the day of Jesus' ascension, initially in His radiant ethereal body, (not physical), toward His divine home. It is the day of Pentecost, when the heavens open above them and they receive the flame, which will accompany them in their work of spreading the Word of Christ among all people
